these banknotes are what we call funny money
as they are not legal tender
but new Zealand bank allowed them to be used as real banknotes but only in chatham island
they are a nice collectible note
I am too lazy to have a look at those that I have in my small collection, but I believe that that the Reserve Bank of NZ did not take any action against these 'notes' nor they have actually approved them as the wording "Legal Tender" was not imprinted. If in a barter economy, anything can be used as payments and so those these toy or monopoly money. Of course your good mate from Kiwiland may disagreed with me on this, but to me, these so called notes are just like those Antarctica notes, fantasy stuffs....
